Lacerater are representatives of the Italian Death Metal scene ( their hometown is Bologna ) and "Nessun Urlo Nell'Ombra" is their debut MCD.
First thing that makes an impression in this release is the sound quality - the production is very good and professional and the sound is powerful as hell! These Italian guys know very well how to play their instruments - the drums are skilfully performed and the guitar riffs hit your head like a ton of bricks. There are four tracks in this MCD and all of them are furious straightforward Death Metal.
The big advantage of Lacerater is that despite being heavy and brutal the band is able to sound interesting and groovy.
The guys have managed to escape the trap of monotony into which many of today's Death Metal acts have fallen.
More good news is that Lacerater have developed a sound of their own - of course there are influences from Cannibal Corpse or Morbid Angel but this is not a pathetic copying of whole passages from these great bands.
"Nessun Urlo Nell'Ombra" is definitely an impressive effort and hopefully their official full-length will be at least that good. In my humble opinion Lacerater has a promising future if they keep up with the good work.
Give 'em your support too!
